On 23 June Artsakh Republic President Arayik Harutyunyan received Artsakh Republic Human Rights Defender Artak Beglaryan.
President Harutyunyan noted that he got acquainted with the annual report on the activity of the Human Rights Defender in 2019, as well as the situation with the protection of human rights and freedoms, highlighting the role of the Ombudsman's Office in the implementation of human-centric reforms in a number of key spheres of the republic.
А.Beglaryan briefly presented some of the proposals summarized in the annual report, including those on public administration, public service, and penitentiary system reforms, voicing hope that some of about a hundred proposals will be included in the program of the Republic's President to be published in the near future. The Human Rights Defender underscored the necessity for the Government to elaborate and implement a strategy for the protection of human rights.
The President touched upon some proposals and expressed readiness to take concrete steps towards eliminating the identified problems highlighting the directions of increasing the efficiency of the management system and developing the capacities of public servants. Arayik Harutyunyan emphasized that those high-ranking state officials who act unjustly or show disrespect towards the citizens and their subordinates, will be strictly reprimanded.
