On 14 September Artsakh Republic President Arayik Harutyunyan sent a condolence letter to the family of public and political figure Varand Papazyan.
The letter runs as follows:
"I have learnt with deep sorrow about the death of former member of the ARF Lebanon Central Committee, former director of the "Azdak" periodical Varand Papazyan.
Our people know and appreciate Varand Papazyan's patriotic efforts and activity. During the years of the Artsakh war he stood by the people of Artsakh, he made his undeniable contribution both to our national liberation struggle and to state building.
For his services rendered to Artsakh, Varand Papazyan was awarded a high state award, the "Vachagan Barepasht" medal of the Artsakh Republic.
At this difficult moment of irretrievable loss, I extend my deepest condolences and support to the relatives and friends of the deceased, his party comrades. I wish you all endurance and strength of spirit.
The memory of the distinguished party figure, intellectual and great patriot will always remain bright in the memory of generations."
