On 3 October President of the Nagorno Karabagh Republic Bako Sahakayn visited the village of Astkhashen in Askeran region and partook at a solemn ceremony of opening a memorial of freedom fighters perished in Artsakh war. In his speech the President expressed his gratitude to all people of Astkhashen who contributed to this patriotic initiative, noting that keeping alive the memory of heroes perished for the freedom of the Motherland is the duty of everybody in Artsakh and one of the foundations of the state's continuous development. Bako Sahakyan handed in state awards to a group of veteran villagers. Head of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, speaker of the NKR National Assembly Ashot Ghoulyan and other officials partook at the event.
