On 31 August in connection with the 18th anniversary of the proclamation of the Nagorno Karabagh Republic President Bako Sahakyan signed several decrees on awarding medals and honorary titles.
For personal bravery shown in combat actions for the defense of the Fatherland nine individuals, two of them posthumous, were awarded the Medal "For Courage".
    For contribution to successful performance of combat missions, maintaining combat readiness of the forces as well as courage shown defending state borders 151 individuals, 14 of them posthumous, were awarded the Medal "For Service in Battle".
    For services provided to the Nagorno Karabagh Republic in the spheres of health care, education, science, culture, physical culture and sports three individuals were awarded the "Vachagan Barepasht" medal and four individuals the medal the "Gratitude" medal.
    For substantial contribution to the development of physical culture and sports Georgy Shahramanyan was awarded the honorary title of the Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports of the Nagorno Karabagh Republic
