On 1 December President of the Artsakh Republic Bako Sahakyan arrived in Uruguay. In capital Montevideo the President met with representatives of traditional Armenian parties and organizations functioning in Uruguay, as well as Armenian community.
Bako Sahakyan rated high the role of Uruguay Armenian community in the development of Artsakh underlining that our compatriots living in Uruguay have had an active participation in almost every sphere of our republic's life.
After the meeting the President visited St. Nerses the Graceful Cathedral in Montevideo and met with primate of the Uruguay Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Hakob Kelendjyan and a group of members of the Armenian community.
Thereafter accompanied by representatives of the community Bako Sahakyan visited the "Armenia" square in Montevideo and laid a wreath to the memorial of the 1915 Genocide martyrs.
Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia in Argentine, Uruguay and Chile Vladimir Karmirshalуan, head of the central information department of the office of the Artsakh Republic President David Babayan partook at the events.
