On 2 September President Bako Sahakyan partook at solemn events dedicated to the Day of the Artsakh Republic.
The Head of the State visited the Memorial Complex in the capital and laid flowers to the tombs of freedom fighters perished for the independence and freedom of the Motherland and the first speaker of the National Assembly Arthur Mkrtchyan.
Answering to a question on recent developments in the conflict settlement process, the President noted that Azerbaijan's efforts directed at adopting various documents and resolutions in different international structures only impede the negotiation process and cannot have any impact on our position. "The people of Artsakh made their decision on September 2, 1991, confirmed it on December 10, 1991 referendum, defended independence and freedom of Artsakh during the imposed war and reconfirmed it once again on December 10, 2006 by adopting the Constitution," said Bako Sahakyan.
Subsequently, in capital Stepanakert the President partook at solemn ceremonies of opening the monument of double hero of the Soviet Union Nelson Stepanyan and the "Dandelion" sculpture composition symbolizing peace. 
On the same day Bako Sahakyan visited Stepanakert military hospital where he awarded the medal "For Courage" the Defense Army's private Roudik Manaseryan who recovers there after being wounded during combat activities.
