On May 24 President of the Artsakh Republic Arayik Harutyunyan took part in the funeral ceremony of Major David Arushanyan, commander of the motorized rifle battalion of the N military unit of the defense army and presented the "Golden Eagle" medal to the relatives of the deceased.
Davit Arushanyan was posthumously awarded the highest title of "Hero of Artsakh" for his exceptional services to the Republic of Artsakh in the defense and security of the Motherland, for his bravery and personal courage. He has served in the Defense Army since 2006. He organized and carried out the combat tasks assigned to him at a high level in his positions. D. Arushanyan took an active part in 2016 April and 2020 September military operations unleashed by Azerbaijan against the Artsakh Republic.
Davit Arushanyan, who fought valiantly against the enemy forces many times during the war, destroyed a large amount of the enemy's military equipment and inflicted numerous losses of manpower on him. Even in a wounded state, he brilliantly and selflessly fulfilled the task set before him, to plunge the enemy troops, to defend the borders of the homeland at the cost of his life. He was able to stop the enemy's advance towards the Armenian positions, with his heroic actions.
