On 20 November President of the Republic of Artsakh Arayik Harutyunyan received senior representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross Pascal Hundt.
Welcoming the guests, the Head of the State expressed gratitude for the important role played by the ICRC mission, highlighting that due to the efforts of the Red Cross it was possible to remove the bodies of the victims from the conflict zone and search for the missing in action servicemen after the cessation of hostilities.
According to the President, the issue of exchanging war prisoners is in the spotlight of the Artsakh authorities and the people. He urged to continue exerting efforts in that direction.
Arayik Harutyunyan noted also that the republic's authorities are ready to render greater support to the organization in order to make the process of the launched programs more effective.
Expressing appreciation for the successful collaboration, Pascal Hundt noted that the Red Cross, in cooperation with the concerned parties and structures, continues to carry out its functions with maximum effort, presenting the main results to the President. According to him, within the framework of the humanitarian mission, the organization also provides medicine, food and hygiene items to the civilian population, which will be of a continuous nature.
A range of other activities to be realized within the framework of collaboration with the ICRC were discussed during the meeting, attended by Artsakh Ombudsman Artak Beglaryan.
