On 30 April Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan visited the Martakert region. President Sahakyan visited the village of Talish and partook in a solemn ceremony dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the settlement's liberation. President Sahakyan considered the liberation of Talish among our tangible victories, stressing the importance of preserving the triumphant spirit, patriotic upbringing of the younger generation and keeping alive the memory of the martyrs. The Head of the State awarded the "For Service in Battle" medal to a group of freedom fighters for personal bravery shown in battles defending the Fatherland, with two of them were awarded posthumously and the "Vachagan Barepasht" medal to philanthropist Boris Saghatelyan for continuous support shown to the village. The President thereinafter visited one of the sectors of the Vardenis-Martakert highway and inspected the process of the implemented construction activities. On the same day the President partook in a meeting of the regional administration summing up the activities of 2013. Head of the regional administration Vladik Khachatryan and heads of corresponding departments delivered reports. According to the President the uniqueness of Martakert region lies in the fact that it has great potential for developing various economic sectors simultaneously, for its effective utilization it is necessary carry out a coordinated work and promote initiatives on the spot. President Sahakyan also gave instructions for proper implementation of works. President sahakyan also visited the Kashen mining deposit and got acquainted with the works carried out there. Speaker of the National Assembly Ashot Ghoulyan, premier Ara Haroutyunyan and other officials partook in the events.
